I recorded “COME HOME” in morse code on to a reel-to-reel tape player and created a loop. This was then played through a homemade Veronica FM transmitter. Radio’s around the college picked up the signal and relayed the message.
In ‘Come Home’ I made use of Morse Code and radio, the language of distress and safety communication, to call to those who are lost and will them back. By broadcasting in an obsolete language and on an obscure bandwidth ‘Come Home’ acknowledges that we can never fully communicate with others and expresses the strength of the desire to do so.
Like a wife on the shore looking for her husband out to sea, not knowing if he will return, I wait.
